A fictitious treatise on a change from liberty to statutes/laws, and the making of “crim(e)inals”.
--- Here in this one town they wore sandals everywhere during the warm weather. This includes public places and especially the public square as it was a common gathering place.
One day in the square a group of people was exposed to some stinky feet. These few people decide that wearing sandals in the square is wrong because their olfactory sensors were exposed to certain aromas.
So, these few people with sensitive noses then get together and petition the government “to do something”.
The government people, wanting to be re-elected, write up and institute new laws/statutes to mandate socks and full footwear while out in public.Sandals in the square were expressly forbidden. Any disobedience of this law/statute would result in:
a.) Any “offender” will initially be issued a fine.
b.) If the fine is not paid, the “offender” will be demanded to appear in court.
c.) If the “offender” does not come to court, firearm toting “law enforcement officers” will come to arrest the “offender”.
d.) If the “offender” resists arrest by physical or verbal action, he will eventually be subjected to some sort of violence by the firearm toting “law enforcement” people. If the “offender” resists too much, he could lose his life.
e.) If the “offender” survives the arrest, the “offender” will be physically forced into court and could be fined again and possibly incarcerated. ---
“By color of law”, the new law/statute made anyone wearing sandals in the square a “criminal” in a victimless “crime”.
So the next time you or someone else makes the statement “there ought to be a law”, think about the possible consequences. There are already uncountable laws and statutes. Ignorance of the law is actually a GOOD excuse. There is no way for anyone to know all of the local, state, and federal laws or statutes. Everyday we good people commit “crimes” without even knowing it. One more law will not make things better. The “Ten Commandments” given to us cover most everything. Laws should be written to deal with wrong-doers.
“Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.”, Romans 4:14
“Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,”. I Timothy, 1:9
People just need to get along with each other.
“Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.” Amos, 5:14
