Is God Laughing Yet?

Is God Laughing Yet?

JBH Wonders, January 2015

I keep up on current events by listening to and reading “alternative news media“ sources instead of the “MSM” (main stream media). The alternate news resources seem to give us the truth where as the MSM talking heads eschew government fed propaganda and brain washing material. So I feel that I may be a little more informed than most.

Over the fast few months there has been more and more confusion, calamity, chaos and violence that resemble “wars and rumors of wars”. People are being killed and towns are being destroyed. The lies, deceptions and political posturing abound in most government (and wannabe government) entities.

While thumbing through my Bible (KJV) this morning, I landed on Psalm 94. The heading of “Complaint and Impiety” caught my eye so I read through the Psalm. It seems that a few thousand years ago some wicked people had “triumph” over others (Psalm 94:3). The “workers of iniquity” were also “uttering and speaking hard things” and then “boasting” about it (Psalm 94:4). They were also “breaking up” the Lord’s people and causing harm to their “heritage” (Psalm 94:5). Wicked people were also killing strangers and widow women (Psalm 94:6). And all the while this was going on, the wicked seemed to disregard that they were being watched by a higher power and perhaps thumbing their nose at Him (Psalm 94:7).

Here we are a few thousand years later. We have explored space, cured some horrible diseases, vastly expanded our knowledge base in numerous sciences, built enormous intrafructures, and have inside toilets. Many people carry wireless communication devices (cell phones) and computing devices in their pockets. Anyone with the financial resources (sometimes political pull is required) can travel from anywhere to anywhere on earth in a few days or less.

Sooooooooo….., why are we still killing each other? Why are groups of people, different countries and different governments destroying each other simply because of a difference of opinion in policies or religious beliefs? Why is there an “industrial war complex” building weapons of death and destruction and selling it to the highest bidder?  (Unfortunately advances in technology have also advanced the “efficiency” of battle machines).

It seems that we as a people have advanced in everything except compassion and the desire to compromise and resolve our differences with intellectual conversations. Too much greed and lusts for power still exist. I could list more but you get the point. The world seems to contain an overabundance of mentally and spiritually immature babies. Unfortunately, these same are often in positions of power and or “armed and dangerous”.

Psalms 94:8 to 94:12 serves as a warning to those would cause harm to others. The rest of the Psalm states that the evildoers will be dealt with and gives us hope along with a few things believers can do in the mean time.

“He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision”. (Psalm 2:4)
