We Should Focus on Facts not Folly

It is not the intent of this article to provide an in depth analysis of the programs discussed here. This has already been done by others. However, links will be provided to explain and collaborate what is said here. These links are shown by the standard blue highlighted text. So any reader can go down the proverbial rabbit hole as far as one wants.

The social security program has been in trouble for quite some time. The medicare/medicade program  has been in trouble for quite some time.

It can be argued whether these were well meaning programs (perhaps socialistic in nature) or ponzi schemes to trick the populace out of more tax money. In any case they were bad ideas. Like all government programs they eventually became a bloated bureaucracy strife with fraud and abuse. As such, the costs for these programs have far exceeded expectations. But the genie is out of the bottle now. Too many people depend on these programs to let them fail.

Social security (SS) comprises 24% of the national budget. It gets funded as an item on the national budget similar to national defense, transportation, education, interest on debt, etc. Contrary to “common knowledge”, the FICA that is withheld from workers paychecks does not go to a SS account with an individuals name on it. The FICA withholding goes into the Treasury of the United States general fund and  by a decision by the United States Supreme Court in 1960 was declared an income tax. In the same court case it was also declared that no one has any real entitlement to get anything out of SS. There was a similar ruling in 1937 in the supreme court case, Steward Machine Co. v. Collector of Internal Revenue 301 U.S. 548 (1937). Some experts project that the SS program will be insolvent by 2034 unless something is done to fix most or all of the problems that it has.

Medicare/Medicade & CHIP comprises 25% of the national budget. It also gets funded as an item on the national budget. Some experts project that the Medicare program will be insolvent by 2028 unless something is done to fix most or all of the problems that is has.

Any major changes that are made to these programs would have to be phased in over time as it will affect a large part of the population. Although legally congress could, it would be political suicide for any political party to suddenly cut or eliminate these programs without something else ready to take its place.

There seems to be much fear mongering and emotional hysteria about what the Trump/Pence administration intends to do with these programs. The source of the fear mongering and emotional hysteria seems to be originating from the elite in the entertainment industry and the MSM (Main Stream Media). These people have very little in common with us “common people”. So what the hell do they know? They seem to be focused on being (I’ll be nice) “confrontational” instead of seeking and stating facts.

The president elect is surrounding himself with financial experts who are problem solvers instead of scheming lawyer politicians. Also I would bet that most if not all of these folks have family members or friends who also depend on these programs. It would not make sense for these successful people to deliberately cause harm to the populace. (Something a dirty politician would do).

Changes to these programs may hurt to some degree. I for one will volunteer for some of that hurt to spare my grandchildren and perhaps my children from worse problems in the future.

Perhaps this article will instill some new thoughts for some to consider and research further. Others will just continue to regurgitate the blather that is heard from the corrupt MSM and the Hollywood elite. Now who is hating who and for what honest reason? There are  a few Hollywood people who support the president elect however.

First of all, I sympathize with you. You did not have a good candidate to vote for. Your choice came down to a hard-core socialist and someone under investigation for fraud, collusion, and possible treason. Not to mention numerous other suspicious "activities" . But of course some gave their blind support anyway. Your former candidate continues to be (in my opinion) a train wreck looking for a place to park. It is at least good to know that your side is not yet ready for socialism.

You tried a vote re-count. That had negative results for you. You tried to accuse the Russians of hacking the election. That turned out to be a  false statement. (Hopefully the Russians will keep peace in their minds as we deal with that issue). Some even threatened members of the electorate to not vote as they were obligated to do. And more recently, a few members of the Hollywood elite have made "demands" of congress to defy the president elect. So now the election is over. Your candidate lost. Stop being crybabies and threatening to commit suicide.

Everyone needs to stop listening to all of the fear-mongering innuendos coming from the "mainstream media" and the Hollywood elite. We need to start seeking some facts and work with each other instead of fighting  each other.

The president elect was not my first choice. I believe that these united states of America has an abundant amount of good, honest, intelligent, and knowledgeable people who would have made great leaders of this free (mostly) nation. They don’t all show up to volunteer for the job however. So in my opinion, perhaps we are left with “the lesser of two evils”.

The fact remains that the majority of the people in the majority of states voted for the president elect. And the Electoral College did their duty and carried through with the peoples choice per the system set up by our founding fathers. As a side note, the president elect would have won the controversial popular vote also if the largest liberal voting cities and states were discounted

With all of that said, please allow me to offer some encouragement. First of all, we will now have a president who is not a lawyer turned career politician. We will have a successful businessman who knows how to run things and get things done without all of the political posturing.

He is a leader who can delegate tasks and who expects results. I don’t believe he will tolerate slackers. Though the vice president elect is a politician, he seems to be a good man and "knows the system". He can help the president get things done.

The cabinet nominees thus far for the most part are other self made leaders. Successful people who have no reason to seek more power and money. Neither are they being selected as payment for political favors.

Since the president elect has no education in law and thus perhaps does not aspire to it, it is unlikely that he will be trying various law gymnastics (trickery) to circumvent the Constitution and written law.

He will be I believe a monkey wrench thrown in the machinery cog wheels of the political status quo. The status quo that addresses situations by forming more agencies and committees (bureaucracy) and throwing lots of money at it. When things usually get worse, instead of abolishing it and trying something new, it gets even more money.

The president elect is a very dynamic individual  and sleeps very little. He is listed as one of the top ten successful workaholics on at least one web site (He is number three after Oprah).

Anything negative about him can be offset by  the negatives of the other candidates, equal and worse. No one was campaigning for sainthood or a spiritual leader.

I do not fear the president elect. I would not have feared the loser. I do not fear any government official. “Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.” (II Peter, 2:17) The only thing affected is the way how one handles their affairs.

The new administration will be interesting at least I believe and I remain hopeful and confident that things will get better. God is still in charge.

This article is commenting on the drive off stickers that are being posted by some proprietors that sell fuel for automobiles (actually alcohol laced gasoline, but that is another story). These stickers are placed on the fuel pumps in a very visible spot. It is usually a photo of a uniformed tax feeder (perhaps a model for the photo?) holding someone’s driver’s license in one hand and there is a message stating: “Steal this and we will take this” or something similar.. This campaign has been around for a few years now and I have commented on it in various forums in local newspapers. But since this campaign still exists to this date, I thought an update and blog entry would be prudent.

                

First of all, stealing anything is already unlawful by common law, state and local statutes/laws. The penalty is usually retribution to the one harmed and punishment doled out to the offender in various degrees by some authority.

I’ve read in a few newspapers that fuel station proprietors have stated that “(they) don't have that many drive offs..".  Some proprietors have even stated that some folks who drove off came back later to settle up the bill but the proprietor or workers there would rarely let the bill be settled and instead invoke police action (i.e. they called the cops).

So why subject your honest customers to that stoned faced cop in the photo ad demanding subservience in a somewhat threatening manner wearing a uniform and employed by the government? By the way, how many tax dollars went into the fabrication of those stickers? How many were printed out at the taxpayers' expense?

And why would a proprietor "..rarely let them come back and pay for the fuel."? Maybe the "drive off" was in a hurry because of an emergency or some other distraction. I'm sure that has been the case at least a few times. I believe that most people are honest. If that weren't so, our American society would be total chaos.

In addition to the sticker issue my point is this; the government can add this additional punishment of revoking a drivers license for stealing (“gasoline” in this case) but it seems to be just more government laws on top of existing laws. Unless I'm mistaken, complex laws tend to create a backlog of court cases, and cost more tax dollars. The only ones who make out are attorneys for the defendants who can afford them. Another point is that I feel anyone who has decided to steal gasoline or anything else for that matter will not be deterred by a sticker or other visual aids. The prevailing attitude may already be that they can get away with the theft.

So who requested this new law anyway? And who's idea was it to offend most of us with that sticker?

“Drive Sober or Your Life May Be Over”

The title of this article would be a preferable warning but the state currently has a campaign touting “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”. This sounds like a command and not a compassionate plea for us to keep our wits about us when we are operating a motor vehicle. If one is mentally impaired they should be more concerned/worried about getting to their destination without killing themselves or someone else. Getting stopped by a law enforcement officer and getting a ticket (or worse) should not be the primary focus. The state could have come up with a better jingle or at least given some statistics about last year’s accidents and death count caused by impaired driving.

 

Many years ago when I was in my twenties, I made the mistake of hitting the bars one night and then trying to drive home. The details are not important but to simplify the event, I was stopped, curbed checked, arrested, and hauled off to jail. At the end of the trial and sentencing, the judge looked me in the eyes and stated that I should be thankful to the officer that stopped me as he may have saved my life that night. I don’t recall what the legal punishment was back then. It was not as harsh then as it is now. But I do remember the last words from the judge to me on that day. And I did not think much of it at that time but his words did finally resonate with me and I cleaned up my act.

So as I tried to allude to in my clicket article, in times past the state has at least attempted to relate messages to the public in a more diplomatic, respectful and logical manner. And in times past (at least in my case) their authority was used as an attempt to correct a problem and not to put the proverbial boot on our throats because some law was broken. Remember, “law enforcement officers” used to be called “peace officers”. It is not the intent of this article to slander the "men in blue". They have to obey orders. These "public service messages" are most likely authored by bureaucratic people in suits.

This article is posted shortly after posting another article concerning the “Click it or Ticket” campaign. These are obnoxious messages from the state that seem to be something for us to be concerned about.

Oh how I long for the fictitious town of Mayberry and sheriff Andy Taylor. Deputy Barnie was a bit of a state driven by-the-books guy but his actions would pale in comparison to to what we are seeing now.

Another Run For The Bozos

So here we are again into the four-year (re)cycle of the presidential election campaign. Who are you going to vote for this time? Are you a hard-core Democrat or hard-core Republican? Will “your guy” will get your vote do or die regardless of his/her character, political beliefs, etc? Will you vote for “the lesser of two evils”?

Do you know that the president of these united states is NOT elected by your vote? (The so-called “popular vote”). Do you know that it is the “electoral college” (or a panel of judges) that will decide whom will be the next president?You can check the current process (minus deceptions and shenanigans) here. The current process differs from what the founding fathers originally set up in the Constitution.

The so called debates continue to be political theater to entertain the unwashed masses and gain ratings for the MSM (Main Stream Media). As the candidate “mud slinging” and empty promises begins, I get this deja vu feeling that this has all happened before. It has. The whole election process is to amuse and distract the masses.

I have heard it said that “politics is local”. If that means problems should be addressed and solved by a local community of folks, then I agree. A group of power hungry socialists (perhaps well meaning) a thousand miles away do not have a clue of what we need at local villages, towns, cities or even states. The response to the recent storms and power outage indicates to me that when times get rough, friends, neighbors and even strangers get together to help each other and resolve problems. It does not take a clueless elite group of people in Washington DC to write up “resolutions” and take a vote on what to do.

That is my rant. Just one more thing. Charley Reese is one of my favorite columnists. He wrote an article in the early 90’s entitled  “The 545 People Responsible For All of U.S. Woes”. It is a short and sweet read. It will take you about five minutes and give you some insight that you may not have had before.

So why am I writing this? I have been attending meetings and seminars for over fifteen years now. A couple seminars were of the personal development type. The rest concerned govern(mental) and social problems that we are having to deal with. Most of the meetings were local and were called meetings for “patriots”, “tea parties”, “law basics”, etc, etc. And, my being a “news junky”, I frequent websites with “alternate news” and non PC (politically correct) articles. I have now become pretty selective about what I spend my time reading as I keep seeing the same story content repeated. It’s just a different day and a different author.

I have learned much. But now many years later after hearing the same rhetoric about the issues, there is still little action being taken. The history lessons and personal opinions seem to be endless. I am weary of re-learning the origin of the problems at hand and the constant debates. It is passed time to make some hard decisions and take actions. (But still, the sleepers need educated and pushed)

There are numerous odd and improper things going on in our societies, our nation, and the world at large. Much of it is being promoted by “left wing socialists”, “progressives”, and various government entities. Many of these things are out of hand. In my opinion, many of these issues are not directly controllable or correctable by any good people that remain. So this article is a tabulation of some of the big issues and my reasons for just letting these things take their course to failure by their own doing while we focus our energies on things that we have the power to control and perhaps make a difference. The things that we can best get involved with and make a difference are on a local level (village, town, township, county, state). “Politics is local” as the saying goes.

Also, there is a common saying in the research and development field that is eventually uttered on any given project; “it is time to shoot the engineer”. The meaning is that after much study, research, thought, design, and work, one must just proceed at whatever the risk. You can’t study the hell out of a problem forever.

We no longer have time to research and discuss things at length that we have no control over. Anyone just looking for diversions or other entertainment can visit the numerous websites devoted to “conspiracy theories”. The main thing is to obey our creator, maintain a moral lifestyle and survive.

Is the federal government or some foreign agency zapping the airways with a noxious gas that is making us all stupid or slowly poisoning us to death? Hell I don’t know. There is much buzz about it. Anyone who has the spare time (are you already prepared for a TSHTF⁽¹⁾ scenario and such?) can continue to research the topic and blather on about it. Short of having an air force squadron and pilots at you command there is nothing we local people can do about stopping it. If those clouds worry you, stay inside or get a gas mask and get involved with something local.

Collapse of the dollar

It is a fact that “money” of every nation on earth has been eventually debased by some government or ruler throughout history. Well, it has been happening in these united states for many years now. If history repeats itself, then our “almighty dollar”, the current reserve currency of the world, will eventually be useful only as confetti. The economies of other nations/countries are collapsing as I write this. I do not believe any political posturing about whose fault it is and how it can be stopped. The dollar of these united states is probably going to be totally worthless eventually. This has been predicted by financial experts Peter Schiff and Gerald Celente among others.

We can do more research about how this happened and continue to post well-crafted articles on blog-posts, but it will not change anything. Me, I have been saving pre-1982 pennies, nickels, and the occasional silver coin for years now. So save the coins now while they still have some intrinsic value and buy precious metals and other tangible assets if you can. Advise others to do likewise. But first make sure that you have a supply of what you really need. We cannot drink nor eat metal. And beware of this:

I am not sure what, when, where or if this verse is applicable to our present situation but it sure sounds like a warning.

Drones

Well the catchy phrase “we have the technology” does apply these days big time. I am of the school of thought that even though we can do something, it does not follow that we should do it. Pilot-less aircraft and robot insects buzzing around the free air space are at least two of these “somethings”. I do not believe anything that any government agency is spouting about how much good the drones can be to us. And I do not think that the use of drones can be voted out of existence by the people at large by a ballot box or a show of hands. So I pray that I will never encounter a state piloted drone. If I am not so blessed, a decision must be made whether to hide myself or declare open season on it. So my feeling here is, this is another thing not to dwell on too much with “group think”. If a drone infestation occurs in a given area, let the local folks deal with it as they see fit. Just be careful. Extreme caution is advised.

FEMA Camps

There is much evidence that FEMA or some other federal government entity(s) is constructing and setting up fenced off building complexes throughout these united states. These are purportedly for housing illegal aliens or to shelter the people at large in case of a national emergency. Or else their existence is totally denied. Well this rhetoric is highly suspicious of course and reminiscent of similar “camps” from another part of the world many years ago. If you are all prepared for a TSHTF scenario, have informed everyone about what you know and still have some time on your hands, then blather on about this topic also if you want. I personally have more important things to do. Again, this is another thing that we must be aware of and take whatever action is required to prevent being a guest in one of these facilities (unless of course you want to be a guest there). But we have no power to stop what they are doing other than refusing orders, draw our “line in the sand”, and be ready if they try to cross over it.

Fluoride and other Water Contaminants

It has been proven by numerous sources that fluoridated water is a poison to people and adding this chemical to our water supplies is a very bad idea. Is it a deliberate and malicious act by the state at any level? Well, I don’t know. There is much buzz about it and conspiracy theories abound. Anyone who has the spare time (do you have everything prepared for a TSHTF scenario and such?) can continue to research the topic and blather on about it. It is possible I suppose that a local community could petition their local government or “town fathers” to stop putting toxic chemicals into the water. One would have to be prepared for a battle however as there are many years of a precedent for putting certain chemicals into local water treatment plants. Me, I drink well water or bottled water.

Global Warming/Climate Change

I once watched a  “webinar” concerning “global warming”. Several interesting points were made:

1. Does “global warming”/climate change really exists? (It does actually, it use to be called “cyclic changes in the weather”.)

2. If there is some abnormal earth warming going on, is this a bad thing? How many people actually love cold and snowy winters? Would it not be nice to grow fruit and vegetable all year around?

3. Is modern man the cause of it? (Actually man has little to do with the natural cyclic climate changes.

4. Can any government entity or mankind in general do anything to change it? Would a “carbon tax” be a magical fix? Note that the standard action of all government entities in reaction for any problem is to form new agencies with a three-letter acronym and throw lots of money at it. And if the new agency does little good the answer is to throw even more money at it. And of course they get the money by stealing it from us through taxes, fees, and fines or borrowing it.

5. Based on my research as an amateur, the climate of the earth goes through some natural periodic changes.

Mankind and God’s creatures along with creepy things have thus far been able to adjust and adapt to climate changes when they occur. Al Gore and his BS were not required in the past and they are not required now nor will they be in the future. The whole “Global Warming/Climate Change” movement is just more left-wing political BS to be shunned or laughed at. Whichever you prefer. (God may be laughing I would guess).

HAARP

“HAARP” is an acronym for High frequency Active Auroral Program. Some unbiased and detailed information about it can be found here.

There is a lot of buzz on the internet that the government is using HAARP to control the weather. Some conspiracy theorist have attributed the HAARP program to recent hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes and the like. I did not list any Internet links here. Just do an Internet search on “HAARP” and your computer may explode with information. Good and bad information abound.

If any of the conspiracy theories have any truth to them, it is a very scary thing indeed. Is it true? I do not know. If true, I myself or a thousand others do not have the power to do anything about it. This is another thing that I am putting my trust in the Father in Heaven to protect His people from the evils of some men if He so chooses.

Illuminati

This is yet another topic that everyone should know about. But once you know, short of informing others, it isn’t worth discussing. These united states have been under the virtual control of an oligarchy (or “illuminati”) for many years now. I do not believe that any amount of discussion on a “local” level can do anything to change this. (Keep “politics” local).

Obama

Whatever the story is as to how and why this man came to be president for at least four more years, the fact remains that it is a done deal. Yes the democrats may have cheated in the election. Yes the majority of those who voted for him may think he is some sort of a messiah and should rule these united states forever; and that is a very disturbing thing. (Actually, the majority of eligible voters did not vote at all). Yes he may not be eligible to hold the office of president. Yes he and his administration are usurping the powers granted to them by the U.S. Constitution. But unless and until a majority of our “representatives” take some action, we are stuck with him. We can file all the law suits that we want but it all will come to naught. The judicial system is not about justice anymore. Why are we obeying anyway?

My personal belief is that the “dictates” or “mandates” of one man do not determine my obedience to anything. “…we ought to obey God rather than men.” Acts 5:29

“Obamacare”

It would seem that our only hope with this one lies with any stand and actions that the individual states may take. Hopefully they will draw a line in the sand against this federal intrusion. Individually there is little that we can do to stop this encroachment in our personal lives without facing severe retributions (read punishment) from the federal government (IRS). Some will hate it, some will hail it but “Obama care” is bound to effect everyone who cannot “opt out”of it. So take a stand. I’ve made my decision as many others have. Just pray that our Father will protect us.

State Secession

I have mixed feelings about this one. The current movement promoting any secessions as I write this is commendable and shows that some people in these united states still have some internal fortitude (AKA “guts”). But this did not work in the previous so called “civil war”. That was a bloody and senseless battle. The federal government may now have the military power through technology and brainwashing to easily wipe out all “resistors” in these united states. Will it do so? I do not know. Will it threaten to? Quite possibly. Will a few people simply disappear while others are publicly humiliated, ostracized or criminalized? Yes, quite probably (think “enemy combatant”, “enemy of the state”, “homegrown terrorist” domestic terrorist”, etc). If your opinions are contrary to that of the state and you make yourself known by signing a petition on paper or via the Internet (blogs for instance), you may find yourself on a TSA “no fly list” or be subject to “no knock home inspections”. Just understand the risk and act as you see fit. I believe that this is a topic that everyone should be aware of but not one to discuss in depth and at length UNLESS there are some serious actions being considered by a given group of people.

Taxes (Income, Property Tax, “Fair Tax”, etc)

Progressive taxation is another topic that once it is known about, exhaustive study, speeches, workshops, case studies, etc, are a waste of time in my opinion (unless enough people take a stand for “civil disobedience”). We know that it all is stealing by the state. They can call it “law” if they want to but it is still stealing and wrong to do so. (“Thou shalt not steal.” Exodus 20:15). Take to court any tax issue that you want and may God bless and keep you. You will probably lose. To even have a chance at winning a tax case in court will require lots and lots of money and lots and lots of time.

You may decide to take a stand and peacefully resist this theft. That is what our forefathers did (sometimes not so peacefully). It takes bravery, craftiness, fortitude and whatever else you got to keep from being incarcerated though. I have made my decision. Make yours. Perhaps we will be cellmates and can compare notes on our previous tactics during our stay in the slammer.If you want to now how bad things are and perhaps get some advise, read a book written by Dave Champion entitled: "Income Tax: Shattering the Myth"".

“Third Party” Political Parties

There has been a defacto “third party” for many years now. The “Libertarion Party”, The Constitution Party” are but a few. Some history and statistics can be read here.

They have spent lots of time and money and gave a valiant effort-but to little or no avail. OK, yes some miniscule progress has been made over the years. But at the rate that the third party progresses, the book of Revelation will have been fulfilled before any “third party” candidate is elected for president. The game is rigged. The rules of the “game” can be changed and are changed at anytime during the election process to bring about a desired end result. Anyone who observed the 2012 election will know that there is political backstabbing even within a given political party.

So in my opinion, any discussions or proposed actions about a third party on the federal level is a waste of time. That said, there has been some success with third parties on more local levels (state, county, school boards, etc).

TSA

What can I say? This is another thing that could have possibly been quashed when it first appeared if only enough people had rebelled against it. By literally “cowing” to the obnoxious behavior of this illegitimate agency, the people at large have given a tacit consent for it to continue to exist. And a lack of resistance to the TSA atrocities at this point is allowing the same to continue and grow. Me, I have not been on a commercial flight in over fifteen years. I hope that it never becomes an absolutely necessary mode of travel for me as I will not be very cooperative with the TSA if they step out of bounds with me.

So, be aware of this additional government atrocity and deal with as you feel you must. I just do not think that there is any peaceful and safe manner of fighting it other than staying out of airports. Again, there does not seem to be much hope using the judicial system.

UN

Yes, these united states of America should resign from this institution and definitely stop funding it. It seems that the precepts and agendas of this organization are antithetical to the original concepts and governmental constraints that formed our country (these united states of America).

It is another item that cannot be fought safely on a local level. So I for one do not wish to discuss or shout about it in any meetings of local people who are trying to address other issues. Anyone who wants to protest about the UN should start a blog and/or go to seminars.

“Zionism”

I do not hear a whole bunch about this in local meetings so I hesitate to even bring it up. “Zionism” has been referenced with the “illuminati”. I’ve also heard that anti Zionists are Jew haters. And there is a whole plethora of “mischief” the Jews are purportedly doing around the world. Is any of it true? I do not know. Dave Champion has presented some interesting points concerning Zionist and Jew haters on his radio program. The archives can be heard here and another here.

Anyway, this is another issue that I feel does not belong in local meetings of local patriots.

Summary

There are numerous issues that I did not mention. I started this article in 2014. Since then the encroachments, lawlessness, and insane actions by government entities have grown. The point that I wanted to make in this article is that some things are out “the common people’s” power to change. Yes there is much outrageous mischief going on that angers us and perhaps makes us fearful. We must select our battles carefully and deal with problems mostly on a local level. To paraphrase something that Coach Dave Daubenmire once said: You can’t play in the Super Bowl (Washingon DC) unless you have first won some games in high school and college ("local politics").

We must continually pray to God for strength, guidance, and hope. We must not get excited about all of the nonsense and just take the right path and stand our ground. And most importantly, sometimes we should just defy the bastards.

Battle Fatigues in Public

Was I “Out of Uniform”?

Why these days are military people seen in public and in the media wearing “utilities”, “camos”, “fatigues” and “dungarees”? This was a major no-no when I was in the military service in the 70’s. The  “utilities”, “camos”, “fatigues” “dungarees” uniform was attire meant for on base activities where the general public was forbidden or combat situations only. These were working clothes that were OK to get dirty. It was like putting on coveralls to work on a farm or work under a vehicle.

Back then if a military man was going out among the public (off base, off ship, out of combat), with few exceptions, the two choices of attire were “civvies” (normal civilian clothing), or a dress uniform.

And depending on the climate or current time of the year, a different dress uniform may be required. (In the Navy it was “whites” for warm weather/climates and “darks” for cold

weather/climates).

And if the military man was out in public on military business (guard duty, parades, meetings with the press, etc) it was an unspoken command to wear the dress uniform.

And what about the hat (“cap” in military lingo)? The cap use to be just as important as the shirt or trousers whether attired in fatigues or military dress. One was considered “out of uniform” (a military offense) if the hat was off. There were exceptions of course when the hat could be and should be off. That would be while in church, dining, sitting down, in private settings, etc.

So what is going on? A brief review of the Armies “AR670-1” and the “U.S. Navy Uniform Regulations” documents revealed that the restrictions today are about the same as they were during my tour of duty.

Are we to think that a military man just came out of battle if he is dressed in fatigues and therefore warrants special respect and admiration? Or is it an attempt to acclimate us to future intimidations and military encroachments?

 There are basically two types of laws in these united states of America. These are “mala in se” and “mala prohibita” (or “malum in se” and “malum prohibitum” in the law books). Mala in se laws could be defined as natural laws that concern a crime or an act that is inherently immoral, malicious, or perhaps evil. These would be things like theft, murder, rape, arson, etc. Many of these type of laws are from the Ten Commandments in the Bible (ref: Exodus 20:13-17). Mala prohibita type laws however are laws that we are to obey simply because “someone in government says so” (as a friend put it). Many of these laws are redundant, ridiculous, sometimes obsolete and perhaps not necessary for a free populace. But it seems that once a law is “enshrined”, it is all but impossible to get rid of it no matter how bad it is.  

  “Laws” are often made more problematic by the addition of “policies”, administrative and otherwise. The paper pushers get caught up in procedures (“that is they way we always do things here”) and they don’t care about you nor do they know or understand their limitations on authority per any laws. They do not know the law and misinterpretation and misapplication of “laws” abound (think IRS, DMV, etc). Not to mention the personal power trips some tax feeders indulge in at the expense and inconvenience of the public.  

Sometimes I need extra cash but I do not rob convienece stores because there is some government law against it. If I am feeling “lonely”, I do not go out and stalk or attack a woman because there is some government law against it. Except in a case of self-defense, I do not try to inflict bodily damage or kill someone because there is some government law against it. If I am mad at my neighbor I do not set fire to his house. If a chained up dog barks at me I do not shoot it. When I am driving a motor vehicle through a school zone I slow down and watch for children milling about. If I do not see any children or pedestrians, I may exceed the 20MPH speed limit. If there are children around, I may even go slower than the proscribed speed limit. I drive on the right hand side of the road in these united states of America. Not because I am afraid of “breaking” a law and getting punished. It is because to do otherwise is to risk harming someone or myself in a crash. None of this has to do with any laws. It is the common sense of being responsible. I do not wish to hurt anyone.                                                

In my younger days I partook in smoking a certain vegetation. There were government laws against it then as there are now. I “partook” anyway because that is what I wanted to do. I just took precautions to not get caught by any costumed tax feeder (i.e. law enforcement officer). I did no harm to anyone. These days I no longer “partake” not because I fear any law or consequence of “breaking”. I simply do want to smoke anything anymore, legal or otherwise.

Nobody on earth is an angel and we are all sinners to some degree. But there was a time when our parents, teachers, and other proper roll models taught us some morality and common sense while we were still young and in our formative years. There was a time when most people had a sense of right and wrong and did not feel right doing a wrong. There was a time when this was instilled in our psyche so deep that it would not even cross our minds to do certain things.

Some folks however “break the law” or run contrary to laws because they have not developed a civilized morality, they are psychotic for some reason, under medication, or perhaps steal or otherwise out of shear desperation. In any case, I doubt if they sit down and weigh the consequences of running contrary to a government-instilled law before committing an unlawful act. If laws are already being violated by some people, it is ludicrous to believe that more laws or more stringent punishment will be more of a deterrent.

Laws will not prevent immorality or evil.

“He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.” (Revelations 22:11, KJV Bible)

 Likewise laws should not condone or protect immoral or evil acts.

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20, KJV Bible)

More laws do not prevent people from doing what they want to do or are “compelled” to do.

Everyone runs contrary to some law every day. With the voluminous amount of local, state and federal laws on the books, it is unavoidable. My main point of this article is that we don’t need more laws. We need to regain our moralities as a nation and a people.
